FESI and EIIF

During the last meeting of FESI held in Copenhagen in September, 2008, the Chief Executive of the TICA Ralph Bradley was appointed General Secretary of FESI. This appointment increases the involvement of FESI for the TICA as Mike Wilkes of Cape Industrial Services is currently the Chair of the Thermal and Technical Commission.

FESI have been developing a new venture; this venture is to promote the use of insulation in the Industrial Environment. However, at FESI we felt it would be viewed by our clients as promoting our own industry.

We therefore decided to form a Foundation which would have a full time manager and eventually staff to carry out this task throughout Europe. It was decided to call this foundation the EUROPEAN INDUSTRIAL INSULATION FOUNDATION (EIIF). Funding to develop the foundation has come from the industry with ‘founding members' making a contribution to the initial start up and running cost, these members are FESI; Rockwool; Kayman; Armacell; Hertel IS; Cape IS: Kaefer: Saint Gobain & Pittsburgh Corning.

Ralph Bradley's first task as the FESI General Secretary was to assist with the recruitment of the Foundation Manager. We have made that appointment and we are pleased to announce that the Foundation Manager is Andreas Güertler; a German national living in Geneva, Switzerland.

Andreas Güertler commenced as manager of the EIIF during early January 2009 and has been busy visiting a number of European countries. He has spent 4 days in the UK at the beginning of April visiting a number of projects to familiarise himself with UK insulation work. We would like to thank both C & D and Hertel for the time taken with Andreas.
